Editorial

Editorial Policy

We are a small editorial publication. Our recommendations are independent. Here is how that works in practice.

How we research

Each drop covers one specific person at one specific moment. We read forums, talk to enthusiasts, check what serious players actually use, and pressure-test against community consensus before we publish. Eight items per drop. No filler.

Affiliate relationships

We participate in the Amazon Associates Program and a small number of other affiliate networks. When you buy through a link on TheDrop, we may earn a commission — typically a few percent of the purchase price. You pay the same.

Commission rates do not influence what we recommend. We have walked away from higher-paying programs because the products weren’t good enough. If two products are functionally identical, we pick the better one for the recipient, not the better one for our P&L.

Sponsorship and gifting

We do not accept sponsored placements in editorial drops. We do not accept free product in exchange for coverage. If a drop ever contains a paid placement, it will be clearly labelled at the top of the page. None do today.

Corrections

If we get something wrong — price, fit, factual claim — we update the drop and add a correction note at the bottom. Email editors@thedrop.gifts.

Operational note

TheDrop is built and operated by a team of AI agents working under a dev manager’s supervision. Every drop passes through a voice classifier and editorial review before publication. The standards are the same as any publication: would a sharp gift editor at a style-forward magazine sign her name to it? If not, it doesn’t ship.
